Vánoce – dodatečně
Protože některé lidi v Česku zajímalo, jak tady probíhaly vánoční svátky, přidáváme dodateně pár fotografií z Vánoc a ze Silvestra.
Kambodža je buddhistická země, tudíž je logické, že se tady Vánoce neslaví. Alespoň tedy ne 24. prosince. Docela nás proto překvapilo, když se asi týden před Vánoci začaly v ulicích objevovat typické symboly Vánoc jako je osvětlení, vánoční stromečky, oblečky Santy Clause a podobně. Dle toho jsme usoudili, že se místní přizpůsobují turistům a také, že mladí lidé vzhlíží k západu.
Ve škole jsme se zúčastnili Christmas Party, kterou pořádali učitelé pro své žáky. Byla to samozřejmě akce spíše pro malé děti, ale my jsme si to skvěle užili.
Každý koupil jeden dárek a následně jsme si dárky losovali. Nikdo nevěděl, co dostane a byla to vážně sranda. Nakonec ředitel školy losoval žáky, kteří získají měsíc studia angličtina zdarma a vylosoval Martina :-)
Nicméně, na Štědrý den to tady vypadalo úplně stejně, jako v jakýkoliv jiný den. Dokonce ani večer, když jsme si šli dát rybu na pláž, jsme nepotkali více lidí než obvykle.
Ryby jsou tady vůbec to nejlepší jídlo. Před každou restaurací si můžete vybrat čerstvé ryby a mořské plody v chladícím boxu. 
Za to na Silvestra na nás čekalo velké překvapení. Nový rok se v Kambodži slaví až v dubnu. Proto jsme si mysleli, že bude zase ve všech restauracích prázdno. To jsme se ale spletli. Když jsme asi kolem deváté hodiny večer sedli na skútr a vydali se směrem do centra, najednou začal houstnout provoz. Čím víc jsme se blížili k pobřeží, tím to bylo horší. Když jsme nakonec dojeli na obrovský kruhový objezd přímo v centru města, zastavila nás dlouhá kolona, která se vůbec nehýbala. Celá hlavní ulice byla zacpaná. Tři pruhy do centra a tři z centra, zacpané dokonce i chodníky, nikde se nedalo pohnout. Trvalo nám dlouho, než jsme si projeli cestu k naší restauraci. Hned před restaurací nám bylo jasné, že nemáme šanci si sednout. Čekací doba na místo byla půl hodiny, to jsme však zjistili až později. My jsme měli obrovské štěstí, že ve chvíli, kdy jsme dorazili, se zrovna uvolnil jeden stůl. Personál pak neměl to srdce nám říct, že na stůl tam čeká spousta lidí.
Po večeři jsme se vydali, tentokrát již pěšky, vstříc zábavě. Na plážích však nebylo k hnutí. Vypadalo to tam jako na Masters of Rock, jen tam bylo tak třikrát více lidí. Neskutečné. Půlka Kambodže se musela sjet na Silvestra k moři :-D V takových davech lidí se nedalo nic koupit, natož si v klidu někde sednout. Rozhodli jsme se proto, že se vrátíme do centra. Měli jsme štěstí, protože jsme objevili nádherný bar Utopia, který byl umístěný vedle bazénu a taneční plochy.
Tam jsme si dali pár drinků a před půlnocí se vydali na samý okraj pláže (pobřeží je několik kilometrů dlouhé). Měli jsme štěstí, že v tom místě nebyla taková koncentrace lidí a měli jsme krásný výhled na celé pobřeží. Na plážích stálo tisíce lidí a přesně o půlnoci začali všichni pouštět malé ohňostroje, na moři z několika lodí byl pak odpalován oficiální ohňostroj.
V Kambodži jsou také velice oblíbené lampióny štěstí. Před půlnocí jich byly na nebi stovky. Byla to nádherná podívaná. Na fotkách to tak nevynikne, ale ty tečky, co vypadají jako hvězdy jsou lampióny.
